Allergy Relief & Treatments

If you have an allergy to something, then your body reacts negatively to a certain allergen that it perceives to be dangerous, even though it is an otherwise harmless substance. Your immune system produces histamines, which try to get rid of the allergen from your body. The effects of the histamine produced in the allergic reaction can include sneezing, itchy skin, watery, itchy eyes, hives and trouble breathing. At Tower Health you'll find a range of allergy relief solutions and treatments.

Hay fever

An allergy to pollen is referred to as hay fever. Hay fever usually only occurs during the warmer months, from March to September, as there is more pollen in the air during these times. When during the year you experience symptoms depends on which particular plant pollen(s) you are allergic to and when these plants are in pollination. Hayfever symptoms include sneezing, a runny nose and itchy eyes, and in some people can also cause breathing difficulties.

Natural remedies for hay fever

Tower Health are experts in natural health, so we offer a variety of natural health remedies to help alleviate the symptoms of asthma and allergies. We sell a nasal spray called Otosan, which contains sea water from Brittany, essential oils and organic plant extracts. We also sell Olbas Oil, which is a well-known natural treatment for a blocked nose.

Dust mite allergy

Another common allergy, sometimes referred to as “home fever”, is dust mite allergy. If you find you are constantly sneezing or experiencing other allergy symptoms in your home, it may be because of dust mites.

Dust mites are microscopic creatures that typically live in warm, moist environments, such as beds. They feed on the skin cells we shed, dust (hence the name “dust mites”) and thrive in places like beds because of our body heat and sweat.

Although dust mites are generally harmless, in some people, they cause allergic reactions. Their droppings in particular are a strong allergen.

Dealing with dust mites

To keep your dust mite allergy at bay, you need to make sure you keep your house nice and clean. As dust mites tend to live in our beds, you need to wash your sheets on a regular basis and also keep your mattress clean. We cell a special mattress cleaner that helps get rid of mites.

We also cell a plug in dust mite controller that you can put in your room, and a portable version for when you are on the go. The controller emits an ultrasonic sound to help deter dust mites.

We also offer the plug-in Dust Mite Controller. This clever device sends out an ultrasonic sound that we can’t hear, but dust mites can. The sounds interfere with the mites’ reproductive and feeding cycles, meaning the dust mite population becomes lower over time and the amount of droppings (and therefore allergens) produced is lowered. The device can help protect a whole medium-sized room of up to 62m2. And if you need a solution for when you’re on the go, we also have the battery-powered Portable Dust Mite Controller. With its handy attachment it can fit onto your keys, and is a nice compact size to easily fit into a hand bag or glove compartment. Covering a three metre radius, it is great for dust mite protection for your car or a smaller room, for example.

Insect bite relief

Nobody likes getting bitten by mosquitos or other insects: the bites are itchy, often sore, and unsightly. And if you are unlucky enough to have an allergic reaction to an insect bite, they can swell up massively and become quite painful. Itchgone Insect Bite and Sting Relief is a device for minimising the effects of insect bites. It is placed directly onto the bite, and clicking it emits tiny electrical impulses. This increases blood flow to the area, which helps neutralise the histamine produced by the bite and kickstarts the production of endorphins to soothe the symptoms. In this way, Itchgone immediately prevents and alleviates inflammation, redness and itching by stopping.
