Spray solution to my son’s sleep misery

My husband Terry’s family has a history of asthma, and he and both our children, Elli and Jacob, have suffered terribly with it. However, while the youngest, Elli, who’s now three, appeared to grow out of the condition, Jacob’s breathing seemed to get worse as he got older. Jacob, who’s now five, rarely got a good night’s sleep because his nose would be “stuffed up” almost every evening. In spite of medication our doctor prescribed, Jacob had asthma attacks on a weekly basis. Thankfully, he never had to be admitted to hospital, but he found the attacks difficult to cope with, and they really scared him. It’s frightening not knowing what’s happening to your body and, as a mother, it’s terrifying to find your child struggling for breath.

We were really at the end of our tether when Terry and I read that house dust mites can be a very common trigger for asthma. Immediately, we started taking measures to try to cut their numbers around the house. We removed the curtains in the children’s bedrooms and replaced them with blinds, as they’re thought to harbour fewer mites. We were just on the verge of ripping out the carpets – another favourite with the mites – when a friend told us about a spray product she’d heard of called Total Hygiene DM1.
I read about it, and was impressed to see it was said to reduce house dust mites by 99 per cent. As far as we were concerned, it was certainly worth a try – and the difference in Jacob since using the spray has been incredible. With a few days of treating the beds and carpets in his and Elli’s rooms, he wasn’t complaining of being “stuffed up” and was sleeping much better at night. This now means he’s ready for all the running about he does at school! Generally, we all feel his symptoms are far more under control, and he hasn’t had an asthma attack in months. Since then, we’ve also treated the rest of our home to ensure it’s as dust mite free as possible.

Total Hygiene DM1…has revolutionised the lives of many allergy sufferers since its introduction four years ago. Independent scientific tests support its claim to cut dust mite numbers by 99 per cent, and it can also reduce bacteria, mould and fungi, which are known triggers of respiratory conditions such as asthma. Unlike many household sprays, it isn’t an irritant and is environmentally-friendly and biodegradable.
