Letters from our Customers
Nicola Dronden – Dorset
I know what it is like to be a mum worried that her daughter is not going to lead a ‘normal’ and active life. From a very early age my daughter would cough and wheeze quite heavily.
At the age of four these coughs became more frequent and severe, and it was at this point that she was officially diagnosed with asthma. From then on it became a daily routine of using her medication (brown pump) twice a day and Ventollin occasionally.
Not long after this my daughter suffered her first big asthma attack which resulted in hospitalisation. This meant that the Ventollin was administered direct to her via a mask covering her face, which was scary for a four year old and a distressing sight for myself and my family.
At this point the whole family became worried and concerned that the asthma was now ruling and dictating our lives. The asthma was having a detrimental effect upon my daughter, preventing her from doing many of the activities that other children take for granted, such as running in the playground and doing sports.
Now aged 9 my daughter has spent the last few years of her life affected by asthma. She has suffered many more attacks and one further hospitalisation.
It was my mum who first discovered the Dust Mite Controller from Tower Health. My elder brother had been allergic to dust mites so we thought it would be something to rule out. The Dust Mite Controller has been installed above the bed and after two months a significant difference had been made.
Amazing as it may seem but in the six months that my daughter has had the Dust Mite Controller she has seen some life changing differences. She no longer takes her medicine on a daily basis, although like all asthmatics she keeps it with her. She finds she only needs if she has a cold. She can participate in PE at school and run and play sports games without feeling out of breath. It has had a huge and very positive impact upon their lives.
Before the Dust Mite Controller I was constantly worried that she might have another attack but now I can afford to relax a little. She no longer huffs and puffs after the most simple of tasks and can participate in all activities. In fact we recently went walking up a mountain, which we would never have contemplated before! It is great to see her behaving like a normal nine year old girl after years of worry.
